DBC Announce Improved Results

Date Posted: 02/10/2009

With turnover growth of 9%, DBC showed an impressive £4m improvement in operating profits with a positive cash flow of £6m, for the period April 2008 to March 2009. Chris Horne, Managing Director at DBC confirmed "These are excellent results during a difficult time globally. We are delighted to be moving in the right direction".

"Historically DBC has been strong in the cost sector, we currently operate 24 Local Authority contracts in addition to the multi-million pound contract supplying the Ministry of Defence. This solid base of cost sector customers has provided us with the basis to move forward despite the economic downturn. This has given us a platform to develop and expand into the high street over the past 18 months".

DBC added Caffe Nero, Prezzo, Loch Fyne, Gourmet Burger Kitchen and Little Chef contracts during the period.

"As a business we have focussed on increasing the number of high street businesses we supply, and we believe the solutions we are able to provide have helped us achieve this".

Horne explained, "Caterers are looking to minimise their costs, increase their efficiency and are looking for total management solutions from their foodservice supplier - something DBC are very capable of offering. We believe we have the flexibility to adapt to meet individual customer requirements, we have the infrastructure, the products and the experience to be able to offer genuine value for money for our services".

DBC's CEO, Andrew Ramsden concluded, "Whilst these result are great news for DBC and confirm we are heading in the right direction, rest assured this is just the beginning. We have a sound financial footing following the acquisition by WPD, we have the drive and determination to offer customers a first class service and genuine value for money, and the new high street brands we have formed partnerships with are testament to that".
